Orion’s Community Integrated Services Supervisor, Niquanna Barnett, has been Sky’s* therapist for approximately four years now. During this time, Sky has faced significant changes in her life. Despite these changes, she continues to persevere. Always looking on the bright side and working hard in therapy towards building healthy coping skills.
When Niquanna learned that Boys and Girls Club CEO, Michael Johnson, was gifting an American Girl doll she took it upon herself to nominate Sky. To qualify for entry the nominees had to live in either Walworth or Dane County, in addition to being an admirable young person. Sky was chosen!
On August 23rd, Niquanna and Amanda Jones chose to surprise her over lunch. When presented with the doll, Sky was excited and stated she feels that she is finally beginning to experience a happy childhood. Further expressing that her new doll is going to bring her great comfort.
The CSP team, having worked closely with Sky, believe she is incredibly deserving of her new companion and commends her for her stick-with-it attitude. Everyone is looking forward to seeing just how bright Sky’s light will shine!
