Orion Celebrates July as BIPOC Mental Health Awareness Month
July 13, 2022
Did you know that Governor Tony Evers formally made a proclamation in 2021 declaring July to be BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color) Mental Health Awareness Month? As many people know, mental health continues to be stigmatized in marginalized communities and proclamations like this can help to bring this important issue to the forefront.
At Orion, IDEAB continues to work together to actualize change in our agency from an anti-racist perspective. Recently, staff at Orion have been engaged in thought provoking discussions, book clubs and movie reviews. Last month, IDEAB had a very informative discussion on the movie Disclosure and it went very well. In July, Orion staff will be watching the documentary, The Brandon Teena story.
